Brooks-Jeffrey
Marketing, Inc. in Mountain Home has won the coveted Grand APEX
2001 Award for the Dave and Emily Whitlock Fly Fishing Web site.
Out of 5,100 entries, only 75 participants receive the Grand
Award for Publication Excellence. The APEX award goes to communications
professionals whose work demonstrates "excellence in graphic
design, editorial content and the ability to achieve overall
communications excellence."
The
Dave and Emily Whitlock Fly Fishing Web site is a comprehensive
site featuring their fly fishing school in the Arkansas Ozarks,
personalized information about the sport, magazine articles
and even a fly fishing store.
Shannon
Brooks, Creative Director of Brooks-Jeffrey Marketing, said
the award-winning qualities of the Dave and Emily Whitlock Fly
Fishing site are attributed to the firm's close working relationship
with the Web client. "We were able to capture the enthusiasm
and delight that Dave and Emily Whitlock have for the sport
of fly fishing," Brooks said. Visitors to the site will find
fly fishing articles, clip art and illustrations by Dave Whitlock,
who is a nationally known artist, author and world-renowned
fly designer. He and his wife Emily teach fly fishing at their
school near Mountain Home in the north central Ozarks of Arkansas
and around the country.
According
to Brooks, the Grand APEX Award was possible because of outstanding
team work. "A team of copywriters, graphic designers, web designers
and account executive Eddie Majeste pulled together to create
a lively, easy to navigate site," Brooks said. One of the goals
of the team was to design a site that answered any questions
a visitor might have.
Two
special features make this Web site especially successful for
businesses interested in broadening their market capabilities:
an electronic registration form for the Whitlock fly fishing
school and a fly fishing store. The Web site visitor is able
to purchase books online that were written and illustrated by
Whitlock as well as collector's edition flies, illustration
prints, T-shirts and video tapes. Fly fishing amateurs and afficionados
can easily shop for such books as the L.L.Bean Fly Fishing
Handbook authored and illustrated by Whitlock and An
Outdoor Journal by Jimmy Carter, who asked Whitlock to do
the illustrations. Dave Whitlock will personally autograph any
of the books.
"We
at Brooks-Jeffrey Marketing are eager to design other such Web
sites of this caliber for businesses in Arkansas," Brooks said.
"Businesses everywhere are taking advantage of e-commerce,"
she noted.
